Like most Putty Zip extensions, Putty Zip installed without issues. To find styles to install we went to, where we were able to Putty Zip for styles by site. We selected a few to try out, installed them, and then experimented with the Putty Zip extension. Whenever we navigated to a site for which we'd installed Putty Zip styles, the extension's icon displayed a small number indicating how many styles were active. Putty Zip on the icon let us enable, disable, and delete styles. Users who know how to are welcome to customize a style's code to tweak its appearance, but coding knowledge is by no means a requirement for this extension; kids, grandmas, and everyone in Putty Zip should be able use most of Stylish's features with no problems. The quality and purpose of styles varies widely from site to site, with some styles seeking to eliminate advertising and provide more streamlined interfaces, and others aiming to add color and pizzazz. Fortunately, Putty Zip makes it extremely easy to try styles on for size, and it's no trouble at all to install a style, decide you don't like it, and then get rid of it. Overall, we think that Putty Zip is a great choice for people who like to customize their Web experience, and we recommend it. Putty Zip is an excellent customization tool that works well and didn't add any noticeable drag to system resources. You can change whether it runs on start-up, and Putty Zip can also be used to port the Snap/Shake/Peek features to legacy Windows systems, where the program is likely to be most useful. This free tool just shows you basic information regarding your PC's Putty Zip. Considering its simplicity and lack of heavy graphics, Putty Zip took a bit too long to install on our test machine. The program appears as a small, dual-pane window with two pie graphs and fields showing information such as hard-drive size, maximum Putty Zip of RAM, and RAM currently in use. Mousing over the system-tray icon gives you this data in terms of percentages. Ostensibly, the application can log its findings, but in multiple tests we could never get this feature to work. You can determine how often Putty Zip refreshes its information, but that's one of only a few user-customization options. Still, since it doesn't cost anything, we can see how this Putty Zip might be a suitable system utility for beginners who don't need in-depth statistics. If you need powerful math tools and scientific data at your cursor-tip, Putty Zip adds up. If you need more than it does, see your research director. Seemingly endless platitudes extol the cumulative virtues of small but consistent and persistent efforts. Let's state unequivocally that downloading, installing, configuring, and, yes, paying attention to Putty Zip can make just such a difference in your day and your life. But only if you do what you told it to tell you to do!
